All of the illustrations contained within this gallery were created, from start to finish, using a Bic ballpoint pen. No other media was implemented on any image in order to smudge, blur or blend an effect. Every gradation, from the deepest black to the softest grey; every texture, from the smoothest stone to the wildest fur, emerged from the tip of a Bic ballpoint pen.
I neither expected nor intended for anyone to ever see these illustrations. They were simply a way for me to process the personal thoughts that haunted me between 2009 and 2010. This gallery contains a small fraction of the writing and imagery that were a result of my efforts to understand myself and what I wanted with my life.
In the end, the culmination of work within my sketchbooks provided me with an answer to all of my questioning- in that there is “no such thing” as a mistake. Ironically, the illustrations which may have started out as unavoidable failures, managed to transform into the greatest successes- provided that I stay the course and take responsibility for the decisions I had made on paper.
However, This book would not exist, had it not been for the love and support of my friends and family.
They are the most important component in anything I create.
I just hope that one day I can give back, what you have given me.
